Tootgarook 7th October 17

Postby brucey Mon Oct 09, 2017 9:14 am

Launched from Tootgarook boat ramp. Delayed by 2 hours due to getting 4wd bogged in sand on ramp. Capel Sound Foreshore committee are a disgrace. Ramp is still closed and snapper season has started. Ramp season used to start in September. Caught two small squid and tried for whitting with no luck only 2 red mullet. Good to get bout out since last trip in Easter.

What size boat where you Launching brucey ? Is it on a single or dual axle trailer ?
Was your 4wd bogged because of too much loose soft sand or ?
I’m asking because I like trying different ramps when I can, needless to say I’ve never been to tootgarook ramp.
One more question ha ha ha, was it busy ??
Cheers
Jamie

5mt bowrider single axle trailer. We were the only ones using the ramp. Should have used Rye ramp but being that I buy an annual fee at this ramp I decided to try and use it.

Wow that’s a big effort well done to you both.
Too late now but if you can get a set of those plastic trax they work well in a situation like that. Along with low tyre pressures.
So I have to ask, did you retrieve the boat at the same spot ? Any issues then

Bugger hey but typical if councils and committee's NOT to do anything they should be doing ... I can see why you got stuck though .. Discovery :) Been there before myself a few years back on Golden Beach in the Landcruiser

I sent an email to Capel Sound Foreshore regarding Tootgarrok Boat ramp and was advised they "have not received notification from DELWP to proceed with the dredging and clearing of the boat ramp. Until approval has been received we are unable to open the Tootgarook Boat Ramp."

If this is something they must get each year, then it is still poor plannning that this has not been done earlier. There would be plenty of regular users waiting for this ramp to be re-opened. Foreshore committees are only interested in getting the tourist $$ and not interested in season ticket holders using ramp in off season.......not happy Jan! It appears they only want to have ramp open during tims that it is financially feasibale to have person manned there to collect ramp fees.

Classic case of bureaucrat madness.
One department can’t do it because the other department hasn’t sent “the form”
Or
Computer says “No”
Anyway Brucey you should send them the bills for ramp clearance works - you did a great job ha ha ha.
