Great news with the netter buy back

Hi all,
Just saw this post on FB great news on 1st April all but 2 netters will stop netting. Looking good for PPB fishing in future years

Best news ever heard but where will the fresh silver whiting come from come snapper season, will have to go and catch our own I suppose another excuse to go out on the boat yeaaaaaa

There will be 10 in total according to this link, the way I read it is two did not take compensation and 8 did, those 8 turned in their netting license and will continue after 2022 with other methods

Hey skifalls I was at Lakesentrance couple of weeks ago and some of the locals were complaining about the netting around there and that it shouldn't be allowed

I think unfortunately for those guys not enough votes on the line for anything to be done :(

Do they net in the lakes? Haven't been down there for ages, grey up fishing at Lakes, very vague memory of heading down with mates and getting very very drunk and sleeping/fishing off flagstaff jetty

Skifalls, unfortunately they do net in the Gippsland Lakes. There's still
10 professional netters down there. All of my fishing these days is done
in that area (my boat is down there permanently) and the sooner the
netters are gone the better. I won't be holding my breath though. :(
