New Boat

Postby Skull Mon Nov 16, 2015 10:59 am

Guys,

I have been boatless for over a year now, and it is killing me especially when the snapper are firing up, however I'm preparing to buy another boat shortly and researching all of my options.

I have narrowed my list down to Barcrusher 575C, Streaker 5700 Commander and possibly a Haines Hunter 580 Breeze.

I will be buying second hand spending max 50K, looking for a boat for Port Phillip & Western Port with maybe the occasional trip offshore and the occasional trip to freshwater lake trolling for trout. Must provide good ride and stability at rest. I had a Haines Signature 540F, so looking for better ride, slightly larger.

I'm leaning towards the Streaker currently but haven't had a good look at them yet.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Also feedback on outboards would be appreciated. I had a 115hp Suzuki 4 stroke so I know they are good, but looking for feedback on the new Mercury 4 strokes, Yamaha, Optimax, Etecs etc. Must be able to troll at vey low speed 2 - 3 mile per hour.

Cheers,

Simon 8) 8)

If you want a better ride than the 540f forget an alli boat. Both the Haines and streakers are good boats just have a look over them to see what one suits your needs better.

Thanks Tim,

Stability at rest is a concern with HH 580 Breeze.

Feedback in relation the HH Breeze stability at rest would also be much appreciated.

585r and 580 breeze are 2 totally different hulls with different beams

585r is 2.4 beam

580 is only 2.25 beam

I would choose Signature 575F or HH 585r

You would probably want the max hp of 200 on the HH 585r so running costs may be a factor?

Would it cost much more to have a 175hp or 200hp outboard in lieu of a 150?

No doubt Jamie will see this and post his thoughts on fuel consumption. He has the 585 with 200 yamy 4 stroke and its fairly good on fuel. We made the run from stony to tyabb bank then flinders then back to stony. I cant remember how much it used but it wasnt even close to what I would of thought. I will let him know to get on here and give you his thoughts.
