People have said it before, the international 'Green' movement is an huge influence on our government(s). We, as fishermen and people that enjoy the outdoors are no where near as well funded and organised as this movement; until then and if at all ever, we are staring down the barrell. It's as simple as that.

On top of this, they (and I mean both sides of poilitics) create the situation, with 'mega trawlers' and such that only stands to justify what the Greens want. In effect we are being stooged

They are all involved, playing their part and we must remember that Greens movement is not necessarily about saving anything.

A lot of the so called inner city idealistic greenies have no bloody idea about the environment they are trying to protect same as once in a blue moon fisherman. Those who are on the water regularly whether commercial, charter operators or rec fishos gain a subconscious understanding of what is happening in the environment they are in and use instincts gained from previous expeditions to know how, where and when to find fish a lot more than someone who goes out very little or is a so called researcher randomly going to a few locations and trying to figure out where the fish are.

Barneyboyz is on the money it's a shame rec fishos and commercial fisherman will struggle to see eye to eye on a lot of things.

Join Shooters and fishing party. Vote for them. Then there would be no treat from Greens. Come on vote for Shooting and Greens.

And the Greens. Well 95% of them are city people who know nothing about the environment. And are looking for a cause which makes them feel good. A reason to live because living in the middle of a concrete and steel jungle doesn't satisfy there prehistoric instinct to hunt. So they hunt the hunters.

The other 5% which are the ones behind the Greens are international Socialists who use environmental issues to push socialism. e.g. Socialist don't believe you should own a gun. So they attack hunting as an environmental issue. But real agenda is socialism. Socialist don't believe people should own a boat to fish. They believe its government role to supply the food so they have the power. So they attack fishing as an environmental issue.

90% of what the greens talk about are gay rights, refuges, drug reforms, etc., etc., If they really loved nature they would let evolution take care of these issues.

Hypocricy, and a fair amount of irony. We get the fishery into such a good state that now it appears that super trawlers are going to be allowed, this would never happen if the fishery was poor. then some years down the track when the fishery actually is poor, low and behold the greenies were right! But remember people, governments have done this not the recreational fisher, not the commercial industry as a whole nope, our governments and some greedy people

Spot on BB Australia has some of the best managed fisheries in the world why destroy it? For multinational gain (seafish tasmania) and corrupt ministers allowing this to happen.

From a new person here I probably shouldn't get political; in my defence the subject is on politics and covers subjects I have strong beliefs in. I feel I've talked alot like someone that's been here for ages (I have, just not posted much until recently).

anyway cheers and good fishing to us all,

Barney

I see the boys on Talkin Fishing Ch31 gave the trawler a mention the issue is really gaining some attention. Now watching Savage Seas interesting direction that program has taken.

Wonder if he gets some sort of tax deduction by publishing a family holiday as a rather uninteresting poorly narrated travel program.
