Those 5 meter plus deep diving lures , seen a few ppb videos where people catch snapper on them slow trolling. So will have the harbody lure and will also attach soft plastic above it so trolling 2 lures at once.
with the smaller harbody lures generally caught a lot of pike salmon(bay trout).
So when i go out early in morning and when i am sounding for snapper(5to30mins) i will be trolling at same time, if i catch a snapper while trolling either keep trolloing or will anchor , bait fish , drop soft plastic for a hour or so.And be trolling more in late morning and well after tide turn.
I will be purchasing another ten so harbody and if i have success in trolling 6 to 8 meters , i will invest in down rigger
Just sort of get sick of anchoring and waiting for the fish , so thought id try trolling

Good stuff Brenton thats a good idea, many of us spend hours sounding around for snapper without using the time to catch something along the way. I have a few of those lures on board and will try that, will let you know the results. Cheers bud.

yeah good stuff brenton,
I hear what your saying about trolling around while trying to sound out the snapper, ive just got a down rigger, so I was intending on "playing with it" out there, they also sell the head stalls, which is basically a rig to attach to a dead un, rather than a live bait and it actually swims like a live bait, so I was intending on giving that system a good workout. I suppose its about thinking outside the box sometimes.
I did get told, someone over geelong side on the sandy bottoms, only fishes for snapper using a down rigger and basically bouncing the weight along the bottom, causing a stir, with a long leader off the clip and had some real success last year, not anchoring up at all. be a tad difficult around any reefy bits but certainly worth a try !!!!

Hey Brenton, did you catch the pinkies on all those new lures or bait & hook?
